Erasmus+ Doctoral Level Student Mobility

General Information

Tarsus University offers doctoral-level students the opportunity to participate in study and traineeship (research)mobility activities within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme.
These mobility opportunities aim to enhance doctoral students’ research skills, foster participation in international academic networks, and support their doctoral research at universities or research institutions across Europe.


Types of Mobility

1. Short-Term Doctoral Study Mobility

Duration: 5–30 days
Purpose: To conduct research related to the thesis topic, collect data, perform a literature review, or collaborate with supervisors and co-researchers abroad.
Grant Support: Individual support between €59–70 per day + travel grant (depending on distance).
Required Documents:

  • Learning Agreement for Studies (Short-term)

  • Invitation letter from the host institution

  • Approval of academic supervisor


2. Long-Term Doctoral Study Mobility

Duration: 2–12 months
Purpose: To complete part of the doctoral research at a host university abroad or to participate in a joint-supervision (co-tutelle) doctoral study.
Grant Support: €700 per month + travel grant
Required Documents:

  • Learning Agreement for Studies

  • Letter of Acceptance

  • Supervisor’s approval


3. Long-Term Doctoral Traineeship (Research) Mobility

Duration: 2–12 months
Purpose: To carry out applied research related to the doctoral thesis at a university, research center, laboratory, or R&D unit.
Grant Support: €700 per month + travel grant
Required Documents:

  • Learning Agreement for Traineeships

  • Letter of Acceptance from the host institution

  • Supervisor’s approval


4. Short-Term Doctoral Traineeship (Research) Mobility

Duration: 5–30 days
Purpose: To conduct short-term fieldwork, data collection, laboratory experiments, or contribute to a research project abroad.
Grant Support: Individual support between €59–70 per day + travel grant
Required Documents:

  • Learning Agreement for Traineeships (Short-term)

  • Invitation letter from the host institution

  • Approval of academic supervisor


Application Procedure

  • Announcement: Calls for applications are published on erasmus.tarsus.edu.tr.

  • Online Application: Applications are submitted online via the Erasmus Portal.

  • Evaluation: 50% of the score is based on academic achievement and 50% on the language proficiency result.

  • Selection: Eligible candidates are nominated for Erasmus+ grants.

  • Document Submission: The Learning Agreement, Letter of Acceptance, and pre-departure documents must be submitted to the Erasmus Office before mobility.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants for Erasmus+ Doctoral Student Mobility must meet the following criteria:

Academic Status:

  • Must be a currently enrolled doctoral student at Tarsus University.

  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50/4.00.

Language Proficiency:

  • Must have a valid result from the Erasmus English Proficiency Exam conducted by the university, or

  • Hold a valid score from one of the national or international language exams recognized by the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK) such as YÖKDİL, YDS, TOEFL, or IELTS (the validity period must not have expired).

Quota Availability:

  • A doctoral-level mobility quota must be announced for the respective academic year/semester in the Erasmus+ call for applications.

Academic Approval:

  • The proposed mobility activities must be related to the doctoral thesis or academic program and approved by the academic supervisor.


Academic Recognition and Reporting

  • The period spent abroad under Erasmus+ mobility is recognized as part of the doctoral research phase.

  • Upon return, students must submit both a Certificate of Attendance and a Final Activity Report to the Erasmus Office.
